Are you getting your five a day? Thank goodness bananas taste so nice or I would probably struggle with this task.

Wales Trip Comics 2
So my brainstorming about the Wales trip continues, it's what I really have to look forward to at the minute... whoop!
Clover is notorious for her driving skills... or lack there of :)
I think that even though I will be with my favourite people ever... I will still want to clear my head, or just explore solo. Perhaps I will randomly go for a walk if everyone decides to stay in... we'll see.

Wales Trip
Well I'm very excited to be visiting Wales soon with some of my friends, its going to be quite an event I'm sure!
Anyway in expectation of this joyous occasion I've been doing a few quick sketchbook drawings... (please click to full view) oh and I'm also a BIG fan of the london game, so I'm going to have to bring that one to Wales... :)
The video I'm referencing in this comic is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AoOJuW-KxU

Agenda
I had previously received a few questions through email regarding my work but little did I know where exactly all the information I gave was going to go... turns out I'm a featured artist on the Agenda website. Its an online directory of artists, recent graduates and show cases some very interesting work. I don't know if it's completed, I found it whilst searching google (I'm not the only one who googles their own name right? RIGHT?) Anyway check it out if you get the chance. And many thanks for featuring me there!

Amelia's Magazine
I know this post is a little late but during our dot-to-dot show Amelia's Magazine came to have a look at the illustration work on display. She took a quick snap of my stuffed toy of 'the nothing fish'. Have a look at her article HERE.

Windows installed!
So my painted windows are in their rightful place, on the side of a building! If you just so happen to be strolling up the hill by Havre De Pas towards Mt Bingham anytime soon keep an eye out for these :-)

Finally completed windows!
So after a few days of painting I have completed four window scenes. These paintings are to be placed in four rectangular alcoves in the side of a building. The paintings are in aid of Jersey's womans Refuge. I was asked to paint these pieces for the building to go along side a flower display next to the building. Its been fun :-) Can't wait for them to go up! So here are the final four!
Of course I had to have some parrots. Macaws are great! Next time it'll have to be toucans...
And a small bird cage, with sparrows and blue tits looking in...
A cat happily snoozing in the sun...
Many of the things included in these paintings were inspired by my mothers garden... The flowers, the fairy lights and the strawberries to name a few.Tuesday, 6 August 2013
Three outta four aint bad
So I have completed three of the four paintings for the spoof windows project. This is in aid of Jerseys woman's refuge, see previous post for more details... Anyway here's the updated shots of what I've been up to!

Woman's Refuge Jersey paintings
I've been painting a few boards to contain scenes in windows to adorn the side of a building near Havre des pas in aid of the Woman's Refuge. Heres a few of the progress shots.
Inital sketches and painting so far.

Changed curtains to blue... brings out the butterfly more.
This one is a bit more sparse because it will contain the contact details for the refuge on it.
Added a Macaw because it looked a bit too bare... and he's cheekily hanging off the lights. Quite cute I think!
This is the one that needs the most work. The others just need the window frames painted and a bit more detail to the main image... but I got quite a bit done today so I'm quite happy :)

Becca Corney
Becca is another illustrator who contributed to the dot.to.dot.exhibition. The framed images on display were part of a series of drawings in Beccas own cookbook 'plateful'. All the illustrations were pain stakingly hand drawn with the use of a dip pen. Becca scoured charity shops and vintage boutiques in order to find the perfect plates to hold each dish. All the recipes contained in the book she cooked herself and the illustrations of the meals really did look delicious. I was so impressed with her work as you can see her love of art and food colliding into such a beautiful cook book. The book also contained lovely hand rendered text. I will add links to her website later :-)

Lydia Hannah Thomas illustration
At the AUB illustration show quite a few illustrators were showing off their talents. I'll be doing a series of.blog posts featuring some of my favourite works.
So to begin, Lydias work. Its fresh (not only because of the fruit) and quirky, with a great colour palette. I love her fruit heads (seen below the paintings displayed on the wall). One side of the wood painted as a fruit and the other as a face. These interesting wooden characters just make me feel happy. I enjoy that her work contains certain fruit motifs, even if its just the texture of a pineapple for a background.
